Sindh Government changes school, college timings for Ramadan 2023


The provincial administration of Sindh, Pakistan has decided to reduce the school timings by two hours during the holy month of Ramadan, which is observed by Muslims worldwide. This decision was announced by the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department for all state-owned and private educational institutions in the region for Ramadan 2023.

Under the new timings, classes will start at 7:30 am and continue until 12 pm (noon) from Monday to Thursday and on Saturday. On Fridays, the school timings will be from 7:30 am to 11 am.

Similarly, the federal government of Pakistan has also reduced the timings for public offices during Ramadan. According to a notification shared by the Establishment Division, public offices will start from 7:30 am to 1:30 pm from Monday to Thursday, while on Fridays, the timings will be from 7:30 am to 12 pm.

The moon for Ramadan 2023 is expected to be sighted on the evening of March 22, and the first Ramadan is likely to fall on Thursday, March 23.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) is responsible for monitoring and forecasting weather patterns in Pakistan. In this context, the PMD has made a forecast that there is a strong possibility that the crescent for Ramadan 2023 will be sighted on the evening of March 22, which is a Wednesday. The crescent sighting is an important event as it marks the start of the holy month of Ramadan, which is observed by Muslims around the world.

The PMD's forecast was made public through its Climate Data Processing Centre. Based on this information, it is expected that the first day of Ramadan will fall on Thursday, March 23 in Pakistan. This information is important for Muslims in Pakistan as they make preparations for observing the month-long period of fasting, prayer, and reflection that is an integral part of Ramadan.
